New York City’s book store will launch its first ebook with a $1,000 capstone edition – The Globe & Mail
The new online ebook book store, called The Book Store, is launching Monday with a launch price of $1.25, according to its website.
It will also be available in bookstores and libraries, as well as online.
The site notes that the launch price includes taxes, which are free.
“It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our commitment to affordable and quality books for students, families and those looking for a little something extra,” the store’s website says.
“The Book Store is a great way to connect with our fans and customers through the purchase of our new eBook and in the store.”
The store will also offer a selection of ebooks on Kindle, iPad and iPhone.
“We’re excited to launch this new initiative with the New York Book Store,” said Matt Riggs, vice president of business development and marketing for Penguin Random House Canada.
“While the first ebook at the Book Store will be priced at $1 per ebook, the $1 price tag is just a drop in the bucket compared to what we charge for a premium edition.”
Riggs added that Penguin Randomhouse Canada was the only Canadian-based book retailer to have an ebook edition launch.
The New York store will offer about 150 titles, including the bestsellers by Pulitzer Prize winner and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Austen, author and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and former CBC host Jian Ghomeshi.
The book will also include a special selection of titles by Pulitzer prize-winning Canadian novelist John Green, as a free bonus.
